Dear friends and colleagues,

We hope you enjoyed the Eighth International Chrysophyte Symposium, held on August 12 - 17 at Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic. The symposium provided a forum to present work on all aspects of chrysophyte investigations including biodiversity, evolution, ecology, systematics, and experimetal morphology. Although the overriding theme of the symposium was focused on chrysophytes, investigations of allied Stramenopile groups (diatoms, raphidiophytes) were also presented.

As in the previous chrysophyte symposia, the proceedings will be published as a separate volume of the Nova Hedwigia, Beiheft.
