New ERC Starting Grant

Filip has been awarded a Starting Grant from the European Research Council for the project DOUBLE ADAPT. Nearly € 2,000,000 will cover 5-years research of adaptive consequences of whole genome duplication in natural and experimental plant populations - project info and press release

Utku Deniz joins the group for summer internship

The Plant Ecological Genomics Group has a new member joining to carry out his BSc Erasmus internship. Utku, from the İzmir Institute of Technology, Turkey, is working on seed phenotypes and pollen fertility in interploidy crosses. Welcome!

Plant Population Biology conference 2019

The GfÖ-Specialist Group Plant Population Biology (PopBio) held their conference in Warsaw this year and lots of members of our department attended. Emma gave a talk on barriers to gene flow in Arabidopsis.

New paper demonstrating strong altitudinal differentiation in Arabidopsis arenosa regardless of ploidy in Western Carpathians has been just published in Annals of  Botany. A collaborative work of our group lead by Guillaume with significant contribution of Majda, Majda, and our previous students Adam and Jana.

Polyploidy 2019 conference

Emma, Veronika and Filip attended the Polyploidy 2019 conference in Ghent. Lots of new info on polyploid genomics, ecology and evolution. Emma gave a talk about her project on inter-ploidy hybridization, Filip talked about adaptation in primary contact zones.

Three visiting students from the Agricultural High School of Blanquefort, France just successfully completed a three-week group project with us. Valentin, Eythan and Arthur worked on microsat parentage analyses and the role of unreduced gametes in interploidy gene flow.
