In May we met for two days meeting with Levi’s group to hike around Křivoklátsko forests and discuss ongoing and further work on arenosa genomics.
Prof. Dr Christian Parisod from the University of Bern visited our group to discuss projects, and to give a seminar on his work on the evolution of duplicated genomes under environmental constraints.

Emma Morgan helped kick off the first of the Department of Botany’s spring seminar series with a summary of her PhD research on Lodoicea maldivica.
Emma Morgan gave a seminar at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences. She presented her previous PhD research on the population genetics and reproduction of the Seychelles Coco de Mer palm.
Magdalena Holcová was awarded Dean’s prize for the best master thesis (Molecular evolution of meiosis in diploids and tetraploids of Arabidopsis arenosa).
Dr. Pierre Baduel, who is former Ph.D. student from Kirsten Bomblies lab in Harvard, visited our group yesterday. He gave a talk on his work on dispersal of CONSTANS allele by railway colonization of tetraploid Arabidopsis arenosa.
Filip Kolář won the prize of Czech Academy of Sciences for young scientists. Congratulations!
