Renosterveld

Nutrient rich soils in areas of moderate winter-rainfall (typically 300-600 mm per year) in the Fynbos biome are covered by Renosterveld vegetation. The vegetation is dominated by the gray-colored shrub Elytropappus rhinocerotis, in the Afrikaans language known as renosterbos. Typical taxa of fynbos vegetation (proteas, restios and ericas) are less abundant or absent, but species richness is comparable.
