Our focus

Our department studies a wide range of topics in the field of evolutionary biology and plant systematics. We are interested in, for example, the evolution and ecology of plant polyploids, the causes and consequences of current and historical migrations, processes and interactions in plant populations, evolution in world centers of plant diversity, the dynamics of genome size or the evolution of reproductive strategies. Great emphasis is placed on rare and extinct species of our flora, in order to know their diversity and reveal the causes of threats.
