Velemín

Every year, in the winter examination period, we go to our field station in Velemín in the Bohemian Central Mountains, where there is a friendly discussion about the direction of the unit and discussing various issues that are not possible in the usual hustle and bustle.

Pálava

Once in a while we also go to Pálava, enjoy the unique flora there and taste the local wine.

Meeting of systematists

Every year there is a mini-conference of students of botanical disciplines from many universities in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, where we take turns organizing with other colleagues. Students of master's and doctoral programs have a unique opportunity to present their work and get invaluable feedback from many leading experts in our and the Slovak botanical scene.

Afterafterseminars

Probably the most regular social event in the semester are the so-called post-seminars - every Tuesday after the post-seminar department ends (where everyone presents from bachelors to doctoral students during the year), we go to have fun in the adjacent restaurants. So if the current epidemiological situation allows it... now we at least make up for it online.

The Loneliness Fighter Brigade

If you feel alone and cut off from friends and colleagues at the moment, either because of an epidemiological situation or simply because you have moved to a cold city to go to school, you can check out the Lab Alliance initiative either on FB or their website. 

Offices, coffee breaks, Christmas parties

Due to the relatively low number of people in the unit, we meet somehow all the time and a friendly atmosphere is one of our main bonuses. So we have lunches together, chat in the offices (where we can offer each student their own space to spend time between lectures), go on trips together and organize a small Christmas party.
