Unit of Plant Ecology ("Geobotany" as we call it in Czech for historical
and sentimental reasons, while knowing that this term has no meaning in
contemporary lingua franca) is an association of several working groups,
linked by common interest in interactions of plants with their
environment, both biotic and abiotic, same trophic level and different
trophic levels.
We aim to link historical and spatially-informed approach to the study of
vegetation with population biology of plants and plant functional ecology.
We believe that population biology or ecophysiology of plants make little
sence if we do not take an account of other individuals and conditions in
which they occur and how they reached their place; similarly, description
of vegetation distribution or history makes little sense if we do not
understand life processes of individual that make up this vegetation.
For more info on individual working groups see Research Topics and People.
