New colleague Ondřej Mottl
Hello, I am Ondřej Mottl, the latest addition to the Department of Botany, and I'm delighted to introduce myself as the newly appointed Assistant Professor of Plant Ecology.
In the field of ecology, my research is multifaceted, with a focus on quantitative ecology, macroecology, palaeoecology, and community ecology. Specifically, I am interested in understanding the dynamics of plant communities, from the smallest scale of individual plants to large-scale ecosystems. I delve into topics like species interactions, community structure, and the environmental factors that shape plant populations. My expertise extends to statistical analyses, which enable us to extract meaningful insights from ecological data. Furthermore, I am deeply immersed in the world of coding and data science, seamlessly bridging ecological theory with practical tools that empower our research.
Beyond my research, I hold a personal interest in Open Science. I'm a strong advocate for promoting knowledge about reproducibility in science, emphasizing scientific project management, and fostering the use of collaborative tools that empower researchers to work together effectively.
The prospect of collaboration, knowledge sharing, and making a meaningful impact excites me. If you'd like to get in touch, discuss topics like R programming, biodiversity, or simply say hello, please feel free to reach out. In today's interconnected world, staying in touch with the academic community has never been easier. You can find me on Twitter (https://twitter.com/OndrejMottl), ORCID (
https://orcid.org/0000-0002-9796-5081
), GitHub (https://github.com/OndrejMottl), and more. I encourage you to follow me for updates, not only on my research, but also for engaging discussions on vegetation ecology. Additionally, you can explore my personal websites ((https://ondrejmottl.github.io/)) for further insights into my work.
